D H Thompson Model F
This vise has tremendously strong jaws. It is a real pleasure to use. My guess it is from the 50′s. According to the DH Thompson website, this vise originally sold for $1.65!
D H Thompson Model C
This vise with it’s horizontal jaws make tying throats on flies a cinch. Originally sold for $2.25.
D H Thompson Model B
The predecessor to the famous Thompson A. This vise originally sold for $3.50.
This is the vise shown in the original Universal Fly Tying Guide by Dick Stewart. Produced by the Universal Vise Company. This vise is probably one of the first truly rotary vises. The vise will lock in position every 90 degrees.
The original Model A sold for a whopping $6.00. In Thompson’s catalog it was referred to as the “incomparable tool of the fly tyer”.
